title

The International Conference Center in Kyoto, built in 1966 by Sachio Otani, is heavily inspired by the ideals of metabolism – the architectural concept that buildings are to assimilate with the changes of environment. In 1997, the Kyoto protocol was adopted in this building. In ‘Beyond Metabolism,’ Volker SATTEL and Stefanie GAUS of ‘UNTER Kontrolle’ (2010) question our idealistic future in post high economic growth era, with the help from this building. ‘Tower House’ films architect Takamitsu Azuma’s own home that was built in 1966, on a land that covers only 20 square meters in Tokyo, Jingumae. In this building that later had a big impact on architecture, the camera slowly rotates and climbs up the space that spreads vertically, along with interviews with the people that currently reside there.
