#11, MAREY <-> MOIRÉ Joost REKVELD
In this second programme of films by Joost Rekveld, three of his main works are shown. In these films, Rekveld explores the sensory consequences of systems of his own design, inspired by forgotten corners in the history of science and technology. These systems combine temporary dogma’s in the form of mechanical procedures or software, with open-ended and unpredictable elements such as material processes or networks of interactions that are too complex to fully grasp. In the last few years, Rekveld has been looking at his films, installations and performances as ‘composed documentaries’ of the worlds opened by the systems he developed and built. In their sensuality, these works are an attempt to reach an intimate understanding of our technological world.
