Pat O’Neill, special effects assistant on 2001: A Space Odyssey and pioneer of composite images, put all his technique and imagination into this work, an astonishing feature-length experimental film featuring time-lapse photography of the motion of people and light in various locations throughout the U. S. It displays on the screen the land called “America”, a vision of life in big cities, and the time people live as a compressed visual “landscape”. Here everyday life and fantasy come into contact with each other and are transformed.
