This work documents the process by which About Ohno Kazuo was created and searches for its creative secrets. About Ohno Kazuo, an exact copy of the work by the late Butō dancer Ohno Kazuo, was created by dancer and Dumb Type member Kawaguchi Takao as an extension of his efforts to grapple with the impossibility of how to inherit the testimony of those who experienced the war in Okinawa. YAMASHIRO Chikako

Artist, filmmaker. Began her career as a moving image artist with 2004’s OKINAWA TOURIST (a three-part work including TRIP TO JAPAN, GRAVEYARD EISA, and I LIKE OKINAWA SWEET). Since then she has released several works including SEAWEED WOMAN (2008), in which she gives her own body over to the Henoko Sea, YOUR VOICE CAME OUT THROUGH MY THROAT (2009), in which she superimposes her own face on the voices of elderly people remembering the war in Saipan, and A WOMAN OF THE BUTCHER SHOP (2012), the female protagonist of which runs a butcher shop on an American military base. Other works include THE PATH OF KUMIODORI (2013) and ART OF THE STAGE: OKINAWAN PLAYS (2014).
