When injured or ill, the sense of our own body’s physical existence, of which we are not normally aware, enters our consciousness. Swollen lumps, dull pain, infection, fevers, bleeding, etc.; particularly intense are childhood memories concerning the body. Using a collage of blown up shots of skin and subtly wavering stop-motion, the creator of this work makes us conscious of the fact that “we are simply bags of flesh”. (From the 2005 IFF catalogue)
　

OYAMA Kei

Born in 1978. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University. CONSULTATION ROOM was selected for screening at IFF 2005. Later invited to many international film festivals, including the Cannes International Film Festival Director’s Fortnight. Major works: THE THAW （2004）, YUKI-CHAN （2006）, and HAND SOAP （2008） *Won several awards including the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen Award and the Hiroshima International Animation Festival Excellence Award.
