TAMANO Shin’ichi / 2002 / 8mm / color / 11min.
A fur-clad monk skipping rope and a uniformed man practicing pitching with a rubber tube around his fingers. When the woman who is holding up the tube lets go, the man and the monk begin a series of minimalistically repetitive motions. Sound and rhythm escalate in concert with their violent bodily movements and rapturous expressions. Then suddenly, the tube is around their necks and the woman has “restrained” the lively movement.
