THE HAIR OPERA OBITANI Yuri
Film is both a substance and a body. MONGOLIAN PARTY is a unique work that treats the motion of film as a dance and makes the scenes burned into it dancers. Tamano Shin’ichi ‘s KOUSOKU BOZU is a work as “the result of an impulse to tear up dirty images sullied by words” (SUZUKI Shirouyasu). THE HAIR OPERA is a meta-film that pokes fun at existing conceptions of art while pasting hair on film and referencing its materiality. Each of these works is full of appeal, with seriousness and humor co-existing in a fine balance.
