The 9th TEAM 8mm Tenngoku work. Moving images with a bad sense of direction. The job of dissecting several previous moving image “works”, shortening and making the intent of each clear, and making these into a “suite”, is one that required more time spent watching than doing the manual work itself. Tone-deaf sound images. We aimed at tones that cannot be achieved with absolute pitch. Our fundamental stance is that movies do not need sound. With a hand-held cassette [recorder] we listened to the sound of the other side of the air. A collaboration in which both parties are tone deaf – the height of experimentation…it is indeed the sentimental journey of lovers of the romantic. (H.A., M.S., S.S.)
