While popcorn has a long history with film viewing, it doesn’t have much of a relationship with experimental film. One corn grain fits perfectly onto one frame of 16mm film. When you project film with popcorn or corn grains attached to the individual frames, the popcorn starts to look like a rather barbaric food. With the film’s perforation at its base, optical sound is created from the bits of popcorn that stick out onto the soundtrack. (O.K.)
