My parents gave me some crab today. Why don’t you come over and help me eat it? This four-part drama—SUNDAY, A FRAGMENT, BADMINTON and ONE DAY —about the filmmaker’s friend Fukuda starts with a message on an answering machine. Daily interaction with friends, including the filmmaker, is described by suppressing dramatic development to an extreme in favour of painstaking layerings of fixed shots that weave together the delicate psychology and emotion of friendship into a visual feast.
