Why did the Lumière brothers shoot 『ARRIVAL OF A TRAIN AT LA CIOTAT』? In the cinematic essay 『SEWING MACHINE AND LOCOMOTIVE』, Hagiwara Sakumi sets out on a journey to find the answer to this question. 『in the room』is a mysterious film in which the phi phenomenon of 8mm film is synchronized with the rhythm of a sewing machine. 『HOTTAMARU DAYS』is a piece of dance cinema whose feeling of excitement generated by motion through repetition and difference is reminiscent of the animation of Wada Atsushi. This program also includes the latest work by Kawanaka Nobuhiro, who has been consistently making films from an individual perspective since the 1960s.
